| ECETS Laughlin Alternative XV Canyon Carving Has it really been fifteen years since we did the first Laughlin Alternative? Yes it has. Fifteen years and tens of thousands of miles have proven that we must be doing something right. That something right has always been about the ride; not how to make a buck off a biker. We have been on a shared experience that's hard to define, but we know what the deep meaning friendship, camaraderie and freedom on the road is about. What we take away from our trips hopefully incorporates itself into our day-to-day lives and buoys us during times of stress...I know it does me. Our next stress buster will take us on familiar paths but not traveled in the usual fashion. Although we haven't seen the Grand Canyon as a group in many a year, I hear it hasn't changed a bit. Well I'm not so sure, so we better make sure for ourselves. Williams will be the staging area for our group for two nights: Thursday and Friday. It will be a bit of a butt burner the first day, but worth it, so we can see the Canyon and all it offers. (Of course we'll be at one of the sites that foreign tourists just love.) So where are we staying? On April 22nd and 23rd, we'll be staying at the Howard Johnson Express Inn: 511 N. Grand Canyon Blvd. Williams, AZ 86046, (800) 720-6614 or (928) 635-9561...costs about $70 a night - a great bargain. Breakfast? Yep. Hot tub? Yep. Restaurant nearby? Yep. Train ride if I want to? No one will stop you. Where are we going after we leave the Grand Canyon? Well it should come as no surprise that we'll be riding through some of our favorite territory: Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona, Cottonwood, Jerome, Prescott and finally arriving at Wickenburg. This will be a pretty ambitious day of riding but you guys have proven that you're up to the task. April 24th we'll be staying at the Best Western, 293 Wickenburg Way, Wickenburg, AZ 85390, 1 (800) 854-7235 or (928) 684-5445. Cost is around $80 depending on what you want. Here's a thought for those who want to trailer, we can briefly stop at Wickenburg on the way up and let you roll off your bikes, and then you can ride all the bitchen parts. Think about it. Any questions, please call me at (619) 461-2796 Kim Wallace Reservation Deadline is 04/11/2010! CHECKLIST: Reservations 2 nights in Williams? Reservation 1 night in Wickenburg? Bike ready for the road? If you can say yes to these three checklist items, then I guess you are ready! If you have called Howard Johnson's in Williams and been told the rooms are all booked, please try again! The misunderstanding has been cleared up, use Kim Wallace and/or ECETS to make your reservation. YOU MUST MAKE TWO SEPARATE RESERVATIONS! One for Williams and one for Wickenberg. |
